About Marginalia

The name comes from marginalia: the notes that readers of every century left along the edges of their books. What interests us is that long conversation between a text and its owners — the material history of reading.

We write for collectors, booksellers, bookbinders, philology students and the credential-free curious. The shop exists so that a few pieces keep circulating among hands that will care for them.
